Team Racing

Banger team racing was a regular feature at New Brighton, with a team race about once a month, and points counting towards the Team Championship. Each team fielded eight drivers, and there usually four or five teams in the race. Teams included the Invaders, Ellesmere Port Gunners, the Ant-Hill Mob, Dad’s Army, Telford Bandits, Brightsparks, and Spectrum. The Invaders won the Team Championship in 1974, and the Gunners took the title in 1975. The Invaders team is still going strong today – they now race at Warton, near Carnforth.
