Team Racing

Banger team racing was a regular feature at New Brighton, with a team race about once a month, and points counting towards the Team Championship. Each team fielded eight drivers, and there were usually four or five teams in the race. The Team Championship was won by the Invaders in 1972, the UFOs in 1973, the Invaders in 1974 and the Ellesmere Port Gunners in 1975. Other Teams included the Ant-Hill Mob, Shado, Dad’s Army, Telford Bandits, Brightsparks and Spectrum.

Sadly, Stan passed away in September 2011. The Stan Woods Big Celebration Meeting was held at Chesterton Stadium in April 2012.
