New Brighton

The Track

The track was located at the Tower Grounds, Molyneux Drive. This was once the site of an impressive tower, taller than Blackpool Tower, and a fairground, ballroom, theatre and gardens. For more information on this see the links page. There was also a concrete oval cycle track, with banked bends and a football pitch in the centre. The cycle track was eventually converted into the stock car track, by shortening the oval at the waterfront end. A new banked bend was constructed, and the crescent-shaped space between the old and new bends became the pit area. The infield continued to be used as a football pitch.
